Here are some pics of a beautiful plane I picked up yesterday. A Mathieson mitre plane in fine condition. It has the original Mathieson snecked iron and a mouth that is so tight you can barely see light when the blade is in. have you removed the front infill and taken a look? sometimes they are made of 3 pieces … 2 prime select pieces of rosewood set on a square block of wood. I think the lever screw is a replacement, the plane body, the lever, the front bun all are Spiers designs. You probably already know Spiers made planes for Mathieson (early on) as did Norris later on, still the Math planes with this stamp are rare indeed.
