Ok, just a few details today. I have to work these parquet blocks around some radiator pipes. I don’t know whether anyone else does it like this, but this is how I decided to do it. I figured I may as well put some pics up. Maybe you have another way of working this out. Let me know!

I found those beautiful centre bits a couple of years ago. They are still super-sharp. Every now and again I touch them up with a file, but they are great with a brace for larger diameter holes.

I laid the parquet block in position and scratched the width of the radiator pipe I need to work around onto the block, using a try square butted up against the pipe. This bit will give me a hole the right size.

Then I measured how far in the hole needs to be, so it lands in the right place. A quick bore and we have a nice hole.

Keep the brace straight with a hand on your chin!

Ok, hole is in the right place, now to split the block so we can get it in position. Mark the centre of the hole.

Cut the block.
Cut the block.

Place the block in position. Once it's sanded and filled, this will look fine.
